"hojala que lluva cafe" mean that he wish good things come to people with not money. people from the farm usually depent from goods to grow so they can sell it to be able to feed them self. well in this song as in mary other that juan luis guerra write, he is wishing that his country have eanought coffe (means food) to feed thouse that depent on it. Basically, he is singing a song about how he wishes that people in our country (Dominican Republic), specially the people living in the rural areas, could get free food and stop suffering as much as they do. He wishes for coffee to rain down from the sky in the main verse, and also for various other food sources to flourish. It's one of the best songs of J.L. Guerra, and he is without the shadow of a doubt one of the greatest prides of our country.

Si que hay carencias en mi pobre isla,pero somos buenas personas de corazones limpios y sonrisas que te roban el alma,Grande mi pedasito de isla,asi mismo Juan Luis ojala algun dia llueva cafe en nuestros campos y que mi Romana oiga este canto..Te quiero mi tierra linda.
